professionals, hit tv show vs cc peeps

Firstly I'm not recommending it, I'm not suggesting it, I'm not doing it, I'm merely asking how and why. So I'm a huge fan of the biggest loser tv show, the transformations in their bodies and personalities is just incredible every season. So here's what I don't get, people on cc are adamant about 1200 calories being too low(I understand why) so why are professional trainers and nutritionists putting the contestants on such low calorie diets if its so wrong? I know your thinking its just a short term fix and will work for a while but if that's a case why have so many of the contestants kept the weight off? Yes some haven't but some have. They train for hours a day and have incredible weight losses week after week, so why don't they go into starvation mode? I'm not suggesting anyone follow the biggest loser diet at all, I'm just wondering why it works when everyone on here will say it doesn't? Again I've no intention of this, I always eat my recommended or above, I've merely finished watching the Australian show and I'm curious. Is it really so bad if it works? One contestant that won the show last year walked into finale ripped she looked amazing, no lose skin, toned arms and legs, she was incredible, Danny's her name if you need to have a look! Anyway what's your thoughts on it? This post is purely curiosity.
