how to break unhealthy patterns

Hey everyone.

I'm a 21 years old college student and it seems that I've gotten myself stuck in a specific pattern. I've noticed that what usually ends up happening with me is that when I have a lot of time, particularly over the summer break, I exercise consistently and eat pretty well and am able to stay at a stable, healthy weight. For example, last summer I was 125 pounds (btw-I am 5'5).

I visited the doctor recently only to learn that I've gained 10 lbs and it's really upsetting me, especially because I didn't realize I'd let myself get to this point. I know it's easily reversible, but I'd really like to get back to what I was in the quickest amount of time and in the healthiest possible way as I am going on vacation in a month.

If I exercise every single day and strictly monitor my calories, do you think it could be healthily done in a month? Also, how do you suggest I motivate myself to stay on top of my weight, even when I'm busy with work and school?

Thanks!

Prescribed phentermine for two weeks to break plateau.

Hey everyone! Looking for advice. I'm 18 female and 5'11". SW:237 CW:197 GW: 167 I have been dieting and exercising for what seems like a long time. Im currently in the process of joining the Air Force, the max weight they allow for me is 190. Then after I swear in, I have to lose even more weight in order to complete the physical requirements. I hit a big plateau 6 weeks ago and no matter how far I ran, or calories I cut. My weight wouldn't budge. I was getting worried. A race against the clock and I'm losing. I went to see the doctor. He prescribed me phentermine, an appetite suppressant. He gives a 2 week supply and I have to come in at the end for a check up. That appt. is tomorrow AM. I was 204 when I weighed in then, I'm 197 now. 7lbs in 2 weeks is great. There are a few side effects. I've spent hours and hours reading up on everything having to do with Phentermine. And I know many people look down upon this drug. I can't decide on if I should continue using it. I eat very healthy. 3-5 small meals a day. Only drink water. And I exercise. I'm not trying to use it as a band aid either. I'm just worried about time. Has any one on here used it before? Please don't bash the crap out of me.
